The Consumer Electronics Show is where the future comes to life, and with AR now firmly established in the latest generation of smartphones, we wait to see how all sorts of electronics and device manufacturers plan to use it.
The show has a press day on Sunday 7th January, which will see floods of news releases touting the latest tech crammed into every gadget you can think of, and quite a few you can’t.
The rest of the week sees the running of keynotes and conferences as well as the massive range of exhibits crammed into Las Vegas show halls. It has 11 official venues, with over 2.5 million square feet of exhibit space and features, so bring comfortable walking shoes if you plan to visit
Virtual and augmented reality is one of the keynote topics in the advertising, entertainment and marketing segment of the event. While it is fairly easy to see where those conversations are headed, it’ll be the crazy uses of AR that will generate headlines.
As with much recent technology, expect to see AR features added into white goods and home appliances. So, there’s every chance an AR app could show you meals from ingredients in your refrigerator, or how long different items in the oven have to cook and so on.
Let us know how you’d like to see AR being used in 2018!
